What a year
we have had so far...lots of great events, new friends and progress
toward a building!!!
Fall is here,
nice cool weather. As we go into the last third of the year, we
still have several events to go!!! The boys are at Zionsville this
weekend as I write this. It is a wonderful casual weekend in a
very patriotic town. The hours are changing out at Fort Harrison
as they keep with the daylight hours mostly, our next big event out
there is our weekend honoring Korean Veterans ( October 17 and 18 )
It is an indoor display out at the Fort. Our next outdoor event is
on Halloween at Delaware Lake. We will be having a haunted
soldiers hay ride for the public. This was a lot of fun last year
and we are looking forward to it again. We are out there ahead of
time to talk to the public about the role that the fort played in the
20th Century, then as night falls, the fun begins!!! Calling all
zombie soldiers!!! We would like a big turnout for this. The
more, the scarier!!
As we go
forward, we are still waiting for the go ahead to move into to the
building. Progress is being made every month toward that goal, so
wait and watch with us as we grow.
My thanks to
all who helped out at Riley Hospital for
Children's Back to School event. It was a great day to help
the kids get back into the school mode. As teachers, it is
fantastic any time we can connect with students ( although the favorite
subject was not history, it was recess!!! ). We look forward to
doing that again next year.
We will be
collecting new unwrapped toys for our Christmas donation to the
Ronald McDonald House. You may bring
a toy to any of our events listed on the calendar and we will put them
together with the others for the donation. Keep bringing the pop
tabs as well.

Programs in place….
. |
|
This year we have joined the Campbell's Soup label
program. This allows us to use a catalog to purchase school supplies,
library supplies, books, |
|
dvd's and many
other items by turning in the Campbell's Soup Labels for credit.
You can go to Campbell's Labels for Education web site for a |
|
complete listing of all of the eligible items and I will try to get a copy of it
linked to the web page for you all to visit off of the web page. |
|
So far, with a help from family
, friends and strangers , we have 300
points already. All the items we are looking at adds up to |
|
about 10,000 points. I know it seems like a lot, but we
only have 99,700 left to go!!!! You can bring labels to me ( Marylen )
at any event |
|
or mail them to the
museum P O Box ( 501277 Indy Indy 46250 ) at any time you gather them. |
|
Also don't forget we are still
gathering pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House and this year we have joined up with the Funding Factory |
|
to
turn in ink cartridges collected for cash and items as well. |
|
|
|
We are recycling , saving and earning all at the same
time!! |
